Miss Brightside

Do you know the feeling of how sometimes everything in life seems to be going your way? Having a general feeling of being ok taking over? When little things start making you happy again? Well, whether you do or don't -and I hope everyone does-, it's a great feeling. It really is.

And some of those little things that do the trick are Gia Coppola's photographs, a last name that seems to be synonymous to endless visual talent.

To my utter joy, our trip to Paris is finally booked! So I made this collage of my favourite flickr photographs of Paris, just to get in the Parisian mood:

Deux jours à Paris

One of these days the movie 2 days in paris will be released on dvd and I seriously can't wait to see it! If the trailer that's up on youtube hadn't yet convinced me, the fact that it's situated in Paris would have easily done the trick. ( ah here we go again, yet another 'I adore the french and everything France related' post. For some reason I just can't refrain myself from going there. It's a disease, please find me a french doctor, pronto!)
At the top of this post I added one of Danske's beautiful polaroids of Paris. If you haven't done so yet, you should totally visit her blog, trust me it's worth the click, her photographs are the most wonderful polaroids I've ever seen. They totally make me want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on some polaroid cassettes myself. If I knew where to get them that is. I actually have 3 polaroid camera's, all without film and yet I have never made a single photograph with either one of them because I can't seem to find a place where they actually sell cassettes. So if anyone knows where to get them, preferably online, please let me know!

Daily Inspiration

This photographs embodies everything I love about the way Parisian women dress. And it reminds me of how much I miss being in la belle Paris myself. I'm seriously hoping I'll be able to live there for a couple of months within the next 3 or4 years. Maybe it's time to start planning. If only the future were now!

Paris part trois.

Paris, je t'aime...

Last sunday I came back from my trip to Paris. Feeling rather exhausted and hungry, but at the same time perfectly happy. As expected the trip turned out to be quite pleasant. We entered the gates of Paris on thursday evening after a bustrip that lasted almost 11 hours due to a broken engine. (And just so you know, spending nearly 4 hours on a Belgian parking lot is an extremely exhilarating experience that I can highly recommend to anyone.) After doing some minor unpacking we took off to see the Eiffel Tower, which was illuminated by thousands and thousands of little lamps.













Friday morning we visited Pere Lachaise, an immense cemetary that looked a lot like an ancient village. It is mainly known for it's 'famous graves', for it is the final resting place of Jim Morrisson, Oscar Wilde and Edith Piaf, just to mention a few. Next stop was le Marais, which is a great place to shop. After a haute cuisine lunch at McDonalds we headed towards the Notre Dame. We had to queue for at least fifteen minutes just to get in. The rest of the afternoon we spend discovering the joys of Rue de Rivoli and Jardin des Tuileries. At exactly 6 pm we entered musee the Louvre. Vive la free admission under 26! Ofcourse we admired the famous Mona Lisa and we made a remote effort to exhume the holy grail from underneath one of the pyramides. Or maybe that happened only in our heads.











That brings us to saturday. We had to get up really early, since we were planning on visiting Versailles and the thought of waiting in line for 3 hours wasn't exactly working for us. So we arrived there around 9 am. It was interesting but at the same time rather disappointing. 15 euro's seemed to buy you entrance to only a small part of the castle, leaving the gardens and Marie Antoinette's estate forbidden property. Luckily the view from the top of Montmartre, which we visited afterwards, cheered me up. So did Boulevard Haussmann.









Sunday morning we visited l'Ile de la Cité, place de la Concorde, champs Elyssees and L'Arc de Triomphe. Which was nice. And that's it. Or as the French say: c'est tout.

Resolutions

I know this blog hasn't exactly been a flourishing source of entertainment as of late. And it's pretty obvious that moi is the one to blame. But I intend to change that, in the spirit of new year's resolutions and because of my own let's call it 'need' to express myself in an semi artistic and creative way (or something along those lines) in the blogosphere. Hopefully adding that certain je ne sais quoi that is needed to make reading/looking at this paricular blog worth your while. There's a huge chance this plan is going to fail miserably, but I'm perfectly willing to take that risk :)

Thursday I'll be leaving for Paris, where I will spend four glorious and joyful days, which should provide sufficient inspiration to at least make a half-decent start.
