Amsterdam

Amsterdam was great. Did some sightseeing, some shopping, and ended the day with a mcchicken menu at good old McDonalds.

I bought a few new tops because last week I came to the conclusion that eventhough my closet is filled with a plenty of dresses, shorts and jackets, the top department is seriously lacking in inventory. It should be up to par again by now. Didn't see much else I liked. Except for this wonderful APC skirt and this dress, but unfortunately my size was sold out.

Ich bin eine Berlinerin

In less than a month I'll be leaving for a five day citytrip to Berlin! Obviously I'm sehr excited, especially after the Kopenhagen fiasco. The thing is, I've never been to Berlin before and because of that I really don't know what to visit, where to shop and most importantly, where to get a decent meal. (in Paris we had such a hard time finding something to eat, it nearly ruined our trip) Eventhough I will most certainly go and get myself a bunch of city guides before I leave, I figured it's much more interesting to hear about the city from people who have actually been there. So please share your knowledge if you know anything useful about Berlin, it will be much appreciated!

ps. excusez-moi for the lack of interesting updates. The extremely welcome warm weather is leading me astray from blogging. I'll try to update soon though!

Milk, milk, lemonade...

Friday my mother came home for the weekend and I thought it was the perfect occasion to show the world (i.e. my parents) that I'm perfectly able to cook a decent meal. So I did. And it turned out great, if I might say so. We were all very excited to have her around again, especially our dog. Max went crazy when she appeared. Lots of kisses and weird noises were exchanged. It was so sweet!

Saturday I went to Leuven, where I visited yet another university. Wasn't too impressed by what I saw and I think it's safe to say that Leuven will not become my future hometown. Criminology was mindblowingly boring and eventhough Arabic and Islamic studies sounded really interesting, I still prefer the way it's taught Ghent, where the emphasis is more on culture instead of literature. Gathering information wasn't the only thing I did in Leuven, I also took some photographs:

Aujourd'hui I did some shopping. For once I didn't buy anything from my favourite Swedish friends. Instead I hopped over to their Danish equivalents: vero moda & only. Where I bought this:

And with only one week left until Easter, I figured it couldn't hurt to buy myself some chocolate easter eggs. For those of you who have a Hema nearby, you should really try the ones pictured below! They have a crispy filling and taste insanely good <3

Oriental Mix

Today the university of Ghent had organised an 'open house day'. As I would love to study in Belgium it was the perfect opportunity to get an idea of how things work over there. Together with my father, this probably was the first serious father-daughter trip we ever made, I visited the faculty of Arts and Philosophy (quite a misleading name since most of the studies are based on languages). We attented a lecture on Oriental Languages and Cultures. It all sounded terribly exciting(!) and afterwards I felt like this was a serious candidate in the race for finding the right study pour moi. As it's name suggests it is all about oriental languages and cultures. You are supposed to choose two oriental languages (i.e. Arabic, Hebrew, Akkadian, Sanskrit, Chinese, Japanese and/or Hindi)and then you thuroughly study them, along with the cultures that go with the languages of your choice. So if you were to choose Arabic and Hebrew, and quelle surprise, I intend to do just that, you also study the Islamic and Jewish cultures. On top of that they offer some really interesting minors like economy, journalism, philosophy and political studies. The city itself was magnificent as well, which is very important given I would have to live there. Obviously ;)
Still, I'd like to keep an open mind. Saturday I'm visiting the university of Leuven. Where I'm going to attend lectures on the same study as mentioned above and criminology. And in april I'm going to see what Nijmegen has to offer in terms of history and philosophy. Hopefully after that I'll be informed enough to make the right decision.
